"Ikinomatsubara" is a black pine forest that stretches for about 3 kilometers along the Karatsu Highway in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka.

The section of about 2.5 kilometers from the Nagatare coast to the Oto coast has a long history of ancient times, with the remains of the Genkoborui, which prevented the invasion of the original country. It's emotional.

It is a spot full of charm, with the beautiful scenery unique to an island country that is disappearing from modern Japan, and the history of people unfolding in the turbulence!

About Iki Shrine

壱岐神社

Iki Shrine is dedicated to Iki no Ataimaneko.

According to the Nihon Shoki, Takenouchi no Sukune was accused of rebellion while he was away from the city. Iki no Ataimaneko died as a substitute to help Takenouchi no Sukune.

It turned out to be innocent, but since Iki no Ataimaneko devoted himself to Takenouchi no Sukune at the expense of her own life, she was enshrined here as a deity.

The place name of Ikinomatsubara is said to be named after the legend of Sakamatsu, who said that when Empress Jingu turned the pine branches upside down and prayed for her victory, the pine branches took root and revived.
